Conquer the highest peak in Austria via the normal route or climb the Studlgrat ridge
To the highest Austrian peak Grossglockner 3798 m via the normal route or across the beautiful southern Studlgrat ridge, where you will find a real alpine mountain adventure and beautiful views from the top. The tour is suitable for mountaineers in good physical condition.

THE NORMAL ROUTE
Our journey begins in Mojstrana. Followed by a drive to Austria to the starting point at Lucknerhaus 1920 m. In the first part the tour runs through the Ködnitztal valley past the Luckner hutte (2241 m) and on to the Studl hutte (2802 m). From there we will continue along the Ködnitzkees glacier to the Erzherzog Johann hutte (3454 m), where we will spend the night.
The next day is the ascent to the top of the Grossglockner (3798 m) with the famous cross. The ascent takes place along the eastern ridge to Kleine Grossglockner. Than descent into the stump and then the most difficult part (II +, 40 m) to the top. On the top we have a view of the surrounding and distant Alps. Followed by a descent into the valley past the cottage where we slept, to the parking lot and back to Mojstrana.
DURATION
DAY 1: Parking lot (1920 m) - glacier Ködnitzkees (2950 m) - Erzherzog Johann hutte (3454 m): 5 - 7 h, 1500 altitude meters.
DAY 2: Erzherzog Johann hutte (3454 m) - Grossglockner (3798 m): 2 - 3 h, 350 altitude meters + descend to the valley from the top: 1850 altitude meters, 4 - 6 h.
THE STUDLGRAT RIDGE
Our journey begins in Mojstrana. Followed by a drive to Austria to the starting point at the Lucknerhaus (1920 m). In the first part the tour runs through the Ködnitztal valley past the Luckner hutte (2241 m) and on to the Studl hutte (2802 m). We will spend the night in it, as the next day we will climb the southern ridge Studlgrat estimated (III +, 600 m). The hut is comfortable, beautiful, renovated, offers beautiful views and excellent food.
The next day we will ascend to the Teischnitzkees glacier and reach the beginning of the southern ridge. The ridge is 600m long and offers a real enjoyable mountain adventure. In the lower part it is easier, where we will climb to II. level, followed by a technically more difficult part after. Some difficult parts are secured with a steel cable, while in other places climbing reaches level III +. At the top we have a view of the surrounding and distant Alps. Follow the descent over the normal route (eastern ridge) to the Erzherzog Johann hutte (3454 m), along the protected route to the Ködnitzkees glacier and then to the hut where we slept and back to the parking lot and to Mojstrana.

DAY 1: Parking lot (1920 m) - Studlhutte cottage (2802 m): 2 - 3 h, 900 altitude meters.
DAY 2: Studlhutte cottage (2802 m) - Studlgrat - Grossglockner (3798 m): 5 - 6 h, 1000 altitude meters + descend to the valley from the top: 1850 altitude meters, 4 - 6 h.
EXPERIENCES:
- The tour is not siutable for the begginers in alpine mountaineering.
- The tour is not siutable for those who never use crampons and iceaxes and never been mountaineering in winter time.

Equipment
Personal equipment: sports, suitable for the season- mountaineering clothing (suitable long winter mountaineering pants and spare wind pants, at least four layers of clothing, wind jacket, spare clothes, hat, under hat and 2 x gloves), winter mountaineering boots on which you can install automatic or semi - automatic crampons, backpack at least 35 l, where drinks and food go, and other equipment needed for safe movement in the winter highlands (pocket knife, first aid kit, sunglasses, sunscreen…).
Technical equipment: climbing harness, helmet, 2 x carabiners, 1 x endless loop in the strap, crampons (preferably semi - automatic or automatic), 1 x walking iceaxe length over 50 cm. In case you do not have this equipment, we provide it.

Price includes
Guiding from a mountain guide and its costs, transportation from your accommodation and back (Kranjska Gora, Mojstrana), rental of technical equipment and gift.
Additional payment:
- Half board and the cost of additional drinks and meals in the Erzherzog Johann hutte. Aprox. 70 €
- 350 € in case the tour is delayed for one additional day, due to subjective or objective reasons of the guests.
We make reservations for the cottages.
