group
It is a two-day ski touring adventure in the area of the Venediger mountain group, which is one of the highest in neighbouring Austria. The two glacial valleys in the south of the group, which can be connected on skis to the Trumljoch saddle, namely Dorfertal and Maurertal, represent a ski touring paradise in Austria. Rising above them are many three-thousand peaks that can be conquered on skis, such as: Großer Geiger (3360 m), Simonyspitze (3481 m), Großer Happ (3352 m) and with the highest in this group and our destination Grossvenediger (3666 m).
The Austrian high route - Hoch Tirol also begins in this area. A multi-day ski trip, similar to our Triglav ski touring traverse. It starts in the village of Kasern in Italy and ends at the highest Austrian peak Grossglockner (3798 m). It is 140 km long and overcomes an altitude of 9300 m. We will also walk along the route on ascent to Grossvenediger.
In the early morning we will drive to the starting point above Hinterbichl (1331 m), ascent on skis to the Johanisshutte hut (2121 m). Next day we have about 1500 m of ascent over the glacial world to the top of Grossvenediger (3666 m), where a truly magnificent view opens up. We ski in the direction of the hut, where we spend another night. Next morning we climb the Turmljoch saddle (2790 m) from where we ski back to the hut and then to the car. Followed by a return to Slovenia.
